COBYS > About Us

Founded in 1979, COBYS Family Services is affiliated with the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren. COBYS foster care, adoption, family life education and counseling services are based in an office on Murry Hill Circle in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, with administration services a few blocks away and our Permanency Unit in downtown Lancaster on E. King Street. While our offices are in Lancaster, we also serve clients in areas in Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Schuylkill, York and Lebanon counties.

COBYS provides care and support when people often need it most, when they are facing serious circumstances. The work of COBYS is challenging, is sometimes messy and often heartbreaking. But it is necessary, honorable and life-altering. It can even be joyful. We provide enhanced services to children, adults and families, meeting them where they are and serving with empathy, compassion, dignity and hope.

COBYS Family Services continues to represent and provide Christlike concern and care for children and families in need.

COBYS facilitates programs and services through The Lancaster County Children and Youth Social Service Agency and the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN). Additional services to support those in the foster care and adoption system and those in need of counseling are provided.
