Through Community Connections COBYS Family Services employs a team approach to empower individuals and families to gain personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, and restored dignity. This program serves participants who are motivated to achieve greater independence and are open to accountability as they work toward reaching their goals.
COBYS partners with churches, schools, and community organizations to help individuals or families to address financial, mental health, relational, and other needs. Drawing upon available community resources, the Community Connections team helps participants develop short-term, achievable goals that promote greater independence within six months. Members of the team include a COBYS Navigator, the Partner Organization, an Ally, and the Participant, who may be an individual or family. The success of the process is dependent upon cooperation from participants and collaboration with the team.
The ultimate goal of Community Connections is to empower participants to restore relationships with God, self, others, and their community. To learn more, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The training and approval process provided my husband and me with the opportunity to talk through “what if?” scenarios and helped us to avoid surprises when placement happened. It gave us time to clue in our family and friends about the changes that were going to happen in our life. I’m also grateful for the time to get to know the COBYS staff prior to having any children in our home.
