Family Matters.

People in our community need our help. COBYS delivers.

There are hundreds of children in the Lancaster County foster care system. Every child, along with their siblings, needs to be in a safe, stable home during this time.
Because of COVID-19, schools were closed, appointments at doctor’s offices are limited and children are not attending church and other community activities. These are often many of the places where abuse or neglect of a child is first detected and reported. During this time of social distancing, COBYS Family Services continues our care to children and families involved in the foster care system. As we adjust to ongoing restrictions as well as the economic and social impacts of the coronavirus, we anticipate an even greater need for foster and adoptive families. COBYS will be here to answer the expected increased call for services.

We need your help. COBYS is looking for loving foster families, now more than ever.

If you have ever considered becoming a foster or adoptive parent to children in the foster care system, now is the time to contact COBYS Family Services. We’ll help you learn about the ways you can provide a safe and loving home to children in need. There are short and long-term care options for you to consider. While there is always a need for qualified resource families, with our area’s current restricted social contact, we anticipate a greater need than normal as restrictions are lifted.

And the care continues. Post Perm services.

We walk with children and families throughout the foster care process and life-long journey of adoption. COBYS provides post adoption/permanency services, when the life-long portion of the process begins. Family nurturing, counseling and advocacy resources are available free of charge to adoptive families no matter where the adoption occurred. You are not alone. Adoption and legal guardianship are amazing callings, but they are not without effort and occasional pitfalls. Sign up before crisis mode sets in. Hope, understanding and free support for adoptive families and legal custodians/guardians.

During classes there are many opportunities to learn new skills, which apply to all family members. Everything that is taught, from discipline to family fun activities, is designed to protect the dignity and autonomy of both parent and child.
